LinkedIn Video Is Officially Here

As we reported back in July, LinkedIn had been testing native video with a limited number of users. Well today, LinkedIn officially introduced video to all users. According to the statement on LinkedIn’s blog, “if you don’t yet have the ability to post videos, you will soon as we continue rolling this out to all members globally over the coming weeks.”

The new feature is currently only available when using LinkedIn’s mobile app on Android and iOS. You can record a video in the app, or upload a video you recorded earlier.

The unique aspect of video on LinkedIn compared to video on other social media sites is the insights that LinkedIn provides. You’ll be able to see the top companies, job titles and locations of your viewers, as well as how many views, likes, and comments your videos receive.  Audience insights can be viewed on both mobile and desktop.

One big question that should be answered over the coming weeks is how will businesses start using video on Linkedin. It’s important to mention that as of now, video can only be uploaded on personal profiles and not on company pages. Additionally, there is a lot of speculation as to what is next for video on LinkedIn. Live video, Skype integration (as both Skype and LinkedIn are owned by Microsoft) and video ads all seem like plausible next steps.

How do you think businesses will use video on LinkedIn? What video functionality will LinkedIn roll out next? We’d love to hear what you think! Let us know in the comments below, on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
